While waiting for the seeds to germinate, prepare the soil media. Soil media is compose of 1part fine sand, 1part compost and 1part garden soil. Mix them well and sterilize it by way of pouring boiling water. The purpose of sterilizing the soil media is to avoid the transfer of harmful bacteria to the actual field or garden.

Before transplanting the seedlings in the field or garden, preparethe area thoroughly. Pulverize the soil well using a hoe, spade, trowel or animal drawn plow
Step5 Hardened Seedlings TRANSPLANT PREPARATION"Harden" the seedlings from 7 to 10 days before transplanting to the garden. This is done by gradually reducing the frequency of watering and by exposing the seedlings in the sun. They should be allowed to suffer from temporary wilting before watering. A hardened seedling will stand the rigors of transplanting better and will resume normal growth much sooner than a non-hardened one
